The Believers Share Their Possessions

What would this world be without it?

Acts 4:32-37 (NIV)

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.

Thoughts:
A period of great sacrifice. They gave all to each other, and all they owned belonged to each other. What a moving scene this is. So many times I wish this existed, as it has always been the things of this world that distract us from Him. It would be nice if it would all become mute…the want that is.

I enjoy my stuff, don’t get me wrong. Personal possessions are a part of pur economy, I realize that. Imagine though if we could all take what we need and make do. Chances are, at least in my view, that many troubles would go away. I could really go off on this topic, but I will focus on where we are now. Many of us are stuck.

These believers were all in. They held nothing back. They gave all. They were truly bought in to the Kingdom. I can’t help but to go towards the belief that this world would be a better place if we all just took what we needed, and placed the surplus in the hands of God. These believers did. What a blessing! At this moment in the Bible, life was truly perfect. The power of the Holy Spirit. #JesusSaves
