Faith vs. Sight

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105

  • Jesus…Cornerstone

It was time. Time to let the Pharisees know in blunt words. The timing just as only God would have it. I would’ve loved to have been there.

Jesus is my Rock. My Cornerstone…

    Matthew 21:42-46

Jesus warns them. They do not hear. We must hear, and as Christians we must spread the good news. He is coming, and all who stand against Him will break and crumble. Amen.

  • Obedience…

There have been quite a few students in my classes that have been very rebellious and resistant at first, but then they begin to change as they realize that rules are upheld despite how tough they think they are. I found that at first they did not obey, but later they did what was required and asked. They were obedient…

    Matthew 21:28-32

The Parable of the Two Sons

28 “What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. 30 And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.

Which one are you? Do you say “YES!” on Sunday, then Monday turn back to the way of the wicked? Have you judged those that you think are not as “RIGHTEOUS” as yourself? Be it consciously or unconsciously, chances are we all have.

A great friend of mine this week said something that cleared up many issues for me. He said, “Obedience is more difficult than sacrifice.” Why? I feel it’s because it is required when we are at our most comfortable place, not when it’s the only way out. Sacrifice is easy, as it is immediate. Obedience is not immediate, and requires grace and patience.

    Thank you Jesus!

    Amen.

    Shalom.

  • Kingdom Authority

Challenged at every turn, Jesus is always ready to answer, teach, and put people in the right frame of mind to answer questions. This is my favorite example of how Jesus can answer questions…

    Matthew 21:23-27

    The Authority of Jesus Challenged

23 And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?” 24 Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John, from where did it come? From heaven or from man?” And they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 26 But if we say, ‘From man,’ we are afraid of the crowd, for they all hold that John was a prophet.” 27 So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Jesus knows us so well, that He can see inside of us, straight to our intentions and hearts. He is so awesome how he responds. No wonder they were mad at Him. Truth hurts.

Jesus, you are the redeemer, the Messiah, our savior. Thank you so much for your sacrifice. Your sacrifice ensured us that we did not have to, rather we need only be obedient.

We love and praise your holy and precious name. Amen.

  • God Gave Us Power Through Faith

We were given power by Jesus. Power to move mountains if we believe. If we have FAITH!

    Matthew 21:18-22

    Jesus Curses a Fig Tree

We must have faith. If we do the sky is the limit for what we can do for God in this Earth. The more I get to know God, the more I see how small this world is. It is His creation, but compared to the majesty of God it but a tiny speck. However, for this speck God has the most amazing love.

Have faith and use what God has given you.

Lord help us to know the supernatural power that you have given us. As we do, let us give thanks every day to you, the most high and holy. We love you Lord!

Please pray for Pastor Mike Hall of BT McAllen. He has done so much for so many in the name of God. He is battling a brain mass at MDA.

    Amen.

  • Jesus In the Temple

There are so many commentaries and opinions on all writings related to the Gospel and scripture that it can be a bit daunting for me to read His Word with pure intentions. I try and I pray often for clarity and understanding, God is always there to help. So I read.

One of the many difficulties those who write and share is dealing with fellow Christians that want to judge them. I was speaking to someone the other day that did not appreciate a particular book that was a best seller because it seemed to be “about him”.

For those that bring the Word to the masses, the road is narrow. There can be ridicule at every turn.

For Jesus, the word used in the Bible for the priests reaction to His grace and healing is…

    indignant[ in-dig-nuhnt ]

    adjective

    1. feeling, characterized by, or expressing strong displeasure at something considered unjust, offensive, insulting, or base: indignant remarks; an indignant expression on his face.

    Matthew 21:14-17

Insulted? Really? I have to tell myself not to get angry when I read this. Why couldn’t they see? What was blocking their hearts from seeing Him? My goodness I do not get it. They are staring right at Him…Our Savior!

In the last verse there is is a key statement of how He felt. “He left them.” He left them. I pray that we see Him and welcome Him.

God, please soften our hearts for you. Prepare us for you and help us to remove the blinders from our eyes so that we can see your glory and gift of eternal life. Help us to see you in everything and in every way.

    Amen.

    Shalom.

  • We Are The Watchmen…

The whole city was stirred! Everyone…

    Matthew 21:10-11

The question asked is one that will be asked again. For those that do not know Him, confusion will rule. For those that do know Him, we must be prepared to say, “This is Jesus of Nazareth, The Son of Man, The Messiah, The Redeemer, The Savior, My Father!”

We are the Watchmen. We must share His Word. We must spread the Gospel. Now.

Lord, thank you for your gift of salvation and redemption. Help us to step out of the shadows as Christians and proclaim your name to all so that your name will be glorified all over the Earth. Jesus Christ!

    Amen.

  • Jesus Arrives in Jerusalem

If you could picture how Jesus might arrive to your city, what would that vision look like? I don’t imagine you would picture Him arriving on a donkey. This is just how it went down…

    Matthew 21:1-3

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

How about some red carpet. Maybe a team of beautiful white horses and a golden chariot with Jesus on the chariot and heralds all around announcing His coming.

No. He would fulfill all prophesies. We must be prepared for Jesus to show up in our lives as a he sees fit. Do not close your minds and hearts to anyone, but rather press towards God so that He may direct you every day.

Have a blessed day! Help someone today and FORGIVE.

  • Don’t Worry…Just Ask Him.

Have you ever asked for anything, and then felt like maybe you shouldn’t have? I have. I have to believe that the feeling I get when I do would never come from God. We are instructed to ask Him for all things. He will grant them if it is His will. Do not be anxious or afraid. Just ask Him…

    Matthew 20:29-34

    Two Blind Men Receive Sight

I can see Jesus walking, throngs of people clamoring to see Him. Two guys hollering out to Him for grace. Jesus answers with a blessing. Jesus is awesome. I can’t wait to be with Him for eternity. I just need to spread His word so that more can know His beauty and salvation.

I pray that for you now.

    Amen.

  • Ask…

The brazen and bold request of a mother for her sons. What else to expect from a mother than to ask for the greatest of all things from the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. Be bold and ask for what you want for those you love. If nothing else you will receive counsel and learn more than you knew before you asked. As this mother did…

    Matthew 20:20-27 — A Mother’s Request

A vision recently came to my mind as I was speaking with God and praying. The words that came to mind and vision I saw was of the devil and the realm in which he operates. If you are content your whole life to sit in the background watching life pass you by, helping no one but yourself, you will more than likely remain healthy and die of old age. The devil will not bother with you if you are neither here nor there. It is when you enter the battle and begin to do what Jesus has asked of you and spread His word that the devil will come looking for you and surely find you. It is in this moment that you cry out to Jesus and ask for His protection.

Do not pretend to think that you can battle this world on your own. Hide behind Him, like a child. He will take care of you. Battle for the right reasons, changing your brothers and sisters and having them turn to God every day. They will not truly live and love if you don’t let them know of what Jesus has done for all of us who accept Him.

I pray that for you now. I pray that you submit to God’s will in your life so that He can begin to grow you in His mighty name. The treasures that await you in Heaven are unfathomable. I see mine now. A grassy rolling meadow, a stream and lake with tall trees swaying in the breeze, horses grazing, a cabin where I stay with my family, and the all-encompassing love of my God with me always. Unending praise of my Lord and savior every day for eternity. Amen.

  • Jesus Speaks of His Death a Third Time

There are many things that I would love to know about the future. What does junior high and high school hold for my kids? What will my kids wind up being when they grow up? Who will they marry? I dream about those things sometimes. I pray they have all of the love that they can handle, and that they have the heart to give their love to all who need it.

I do not, however, know how I will die. Heaven awaits me, this I know. Fear is not what I feel about the day that I will die, but I would rather not know how. I attempt to live every day as if it were my last. I pray that I get better at that.

In this verse, Jesus tells of his own death…again.

Matthew 20:17-19 — Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time

One of the many things that I wish that I could do is go back in time and walk with Jesus as one of his disciples. That is my top wish. I know the persecution and horrible things that awaited them all, but to follow Jesus in the flesh for just one minute would be worth it. Truly.

To walk alongside of Him. The Son of Man, who had the strength and courage to walk faithfully towards His own persecution and crucifixion, is amazing. Jesus is the most courageous person to ever walk this Earth. Amen!

Thank you Jesus. My Savior. My Redeemer. The Son of Man.

    Amen.
