Jesus In the Temple

There are so many commentaries and opinions on all writings related to the Gospel and scripture that it can be a bit daunting for me to read His Word with pure intentions. I try and I pray often for clarity and understanding, God is always there to help. So I read.

One of the many difficulties those who write and share is dealing with fellow Christians that want to judge them. I was speaking to someone the other day that did not appreciate a particular book that was a best seller because it seemed to be “about him”.

For those that bring the Word to the masses, the road is narrow. There can be ridicule at every turn.

For Jesus, the word used in the Bible for the priests reaction to His grace and healing is…

1. feeling, characterized by, or expressing strong displeasure at something considered unjust, offensive, insulting, or base: indignant remarks; an indignant expression on his face.

Matthew 21:14-17

Insulted? Really? I have to tell myself not to get angry when I read this. Why couldn’t they see? What was blocking their hearts from seeing Him? My goodness I do not get it. They are staring right at Him…Our Savior!

In the last verse there is is a key statement of how He felt. “He left them.” He left them. I pray that we see Him and welcome Him.

God, please soften our hearts for you. Prepare us for you and help us to remove the blinders from our eyes so that we can see your glory and gift of eternal life. Help us to see you in everything and in every way.
