Walking Through The New Testament

Jesus was acting in the authority of God the Father. He did things exactly as they were prophesied. He would do nothing unless the Father directed it. He explains to us how to do just that…

Luke 24:36-49
36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.

44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

Jesus was here on Earth to bring to us what God had promised us…salvation. This order comes to Him through God and is fulfilled in the act of Jesus sacrificing Himself for us through the agreement of God. We were given access to truth.

Jesus tells the disciples that they must wait in the city in order to receive what God has to give them which is truth and revelation that will free all of mankind. This truth was to be spoken by man and spread throughout the world. The exact words that Jeuss uses in the passage are, “…but stay in the city, until you are clothed with lower from on high.”

Brothers and sisters, we have been clothed with power from on high. We have been given His power. The battle can be difficult if looked at through the eyes of this world, but we are not of this world. That is why it hurts so much. We must ask to become more and more like Jesus every day. This will happen. It is a promise from God Himself.

Heavenly Father, you are amazing and so deserving of all praise and glory. We ask that you for continued forgiveness which you have granted through the sacrifice and gift of your son on the cross. Lord we thank you for that precious gift, ad well as all the many blessings that you have given us, that you are giving us m, and that you have promised to give us tomorrow. We look forward to the day that you will return for us. U til then, we will continue to honor, worship, glorify, and praise you until the day we day. Then we will worship you forever.

I happened to open up an article early this morning that was very informative. The article was 90% about the Ebola virus, and the other 10% was on how we should respond as Christians. I invite you to read as well. This is my favorite part of it…

“For those of us who believe in a sovereign God, we know we’re called to remain calm in the midst of the storm. We find confidence not only or primarily in the belief that science will control this outbreak or that we will not be affected. Rather, we hope in the Lord. As the psalmist said, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

“Let believers be the voice of peace amid the confusion. While much of this disease is still unknown, it is equally true that panic will not help us. The unbelieving world needs to see our trust in God amid this difficulty.”

The author is Miguel Nuňez, a medical doctor of 30 years, and most imprtantly a man of God. What he says in this article is so true. Have faith in God. There is no doubt that His plan is perfect.

What do you feel in your heart when He speaks to you?

Luke 24:25-35
25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

Have your hearts ever burned for Jesus? The fulfillment of the scriptures of the Bible occurs everyday in us. It is His promise. He is always with us, always walking with us, always teaching us. He uses all resources available to Him. Yes, especially the “sinners.”

These men had felt the burning inside of them as He walk and spoke with them, but they failed to listen. Perhaps their skills of discernment had not quite come together yet. Either way, they failed to listen to their hearts. Instead they chose what they saw with their eyes. Know anyone?

Father, help us to learn how to be just like you. We live you so much. Help us to see you more in everything that we do for your kingdom. Lord we love you.

I love the scene of this verse. As men walk along discussing what had happened this day, they doubt as well. I am so glad Jesus did not come to Earth to judge us. He came to save us…

On the Road to Emmaus
13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16 but they were kept from recognizing him.

17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

19 “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

I love His technique. There is no doubt that to able to listen in on His students, to listen in on us, was one of his greatest joys. He loved us, in so he followed us. He walked with us and talked with us. He taught us. He taught us to live and to love.

Remeber, He did not come to judge or harm us, He came to deliver us. To redeem us. He did. As these men walk, they carry doubt with them. I would have to say that biggest revelation that God has placed into my heart while reading Luke would have to be the idea that we are not required to be perfect. We can fail, falter and slide. He will still love us.

There is nothing that we can say or do to prevent Him from loving this of us that believe in Him. We cant. Even if you wanted to. He is with us FOREVER!

Luke 24:9-12
9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Peter wondered what happened. Do you sense his humanity? You can see it. No matter how much they all believed in Him, there was the doubt that humans possess. The lack of faith and belief in Him hangs over us like a black cloud. However, all is not lost.

For Jesus came to save us, not to harm us. He was sent to reach down through the thickest clouds of doubt and take hold of us when we call for Him. It is His responsibility to come and get us when we call. We only need call once. The call to Him us be real,  and when it happens. When you accept Him, it is FINISHED!

At that point you walk with Him. You become the City on a Hill, the light in the darkness, the hope of the world. You become RIGHTEOUS! Jesus did that for you. He did it for Peter. He did it for all who believe in Him. What are you waiting for…
COME!

Luke 24:1-8
Jesus Has Risen
24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.

REMEMBER!  Remember His words. Remember. A promise given to us by our Lord, Jesus Christ. A promise that will be fulfilled. It will be amazing as He returns to reign over this world for 1000 years.

I was contemplating the state of this temporary world. A world full of beauty and blessings at every turn. I also thought of how my perception, having changed as I press into God, of what blessings come in the form of. A hug. A smile. A wave. Certainly not what I saw even last year.

For those of you that believe in His undying and unmatched love. For those have felt His arms around you in both good and bad times. For those of you that have hurt from both loss and gain, keep believing. BELIEVE! He is coming for those that believe. Believe, and you will never fail. Never. Not in God’s eyes.

Find your strength in the grandest faith of all…the wait. The Holy Spirit will take place you never dreamed of going while you wait with faith and you believe.
